Classes and Workshops
I teach both private and group workshops in glass beadmaking. I love teaching, have taken the ISGB Instructor’s Seminar, and I’d be delighted to share some of my passion for glass with you!
Private Classes:
One day (8 hours) or Two day (16 hours)
Private classes take place in my studio in Tucson, and are scheduled on an individual basis- I’m happy to schedule weekends or weekdays.
What I provide: lunch; all supplies used in class; an extensive notebook detailing the techniques we’re covering in class.
What you provide: your own transportation and accommodations; an open mind; any favorite tools or supplies you’d like to work with.
You can choose from the list of workshops I currently teach, or we can customize the class based on what you’d like to learn!
Please contact me for information on pricing for private classes.
“Beginning Beadmaking” is a two day class. One day just isn’t enough!
Group Workshops:
At this time, I cannot teach group workshops in my studio. However, I will travel to teach! Like my private classes, all students receive a comprehensive notebook detailing the techniques covered in class. To inquire about taking a scheduled class, contact the location of the class. To schedule a group class, please contact me!

Offered Workshops
Beginning Beadmaking
A fantastic introduction to glass beadmaking! Students will learn the physical properties of glass (and what annealing is), and all about torches, tools, regulators, tanks, and the safety considerations for working with glass first! Then, I’ll guide students through making a basic round bead and then move on to different shapes: barrels, tabular beads, and cones! Students will get the chance to try out many different ways to decorate beads with glass, including: stringer, frits, and twisties.
Shaping, Encasing, and a little Color
This workshop is for the intermediate beadmaker, specifically addressing ways to improve shaping and encasing skills to create elegantly shaped beads with rich color. I will guide students through a logical progression of “classic” bead shapes, providing tips for building a good base bead, “troubleshooting” uneven beads, and maintaining a good shape during surface decoration. Students will also learn multiple strategies for encasing beads, as well as how to deliberately distort base color with clear glass to achieve a number of interesting effects. With each new technique, I will teach a different application for color. Possible color topics include: the use of frits; silver leaf, foil, and wire; goldstone; enamels; “neato” reactive colors in the soft glass pallete.
